sog win Last Glory TKOTH Finals with a 3 - 0 win over Element X

After a lot of gameplay all round, tonight sog met Element X (.eX) squad in the finals of the Last Glory TKOTH tournament. In a "best of 5 maps" final, sog won the first 3 maps to take the match 3 - 0. sog are now Last Glory TKOTH Champions, having won all four of their TKOTH tournament matches without losing a single map in the process.

Playing a 6 v 6 match, once again the match commenced with Deadmans Gulch. Both teams got players into the zone fast, and sog had to work to find the .eX zoners and clear the zone. Once this was done, sog built up a lead which they held throughout the map. .eX repeatedly got players into the zone but were unable to clear sog for more than a few seconds each time. The lead slowly increased and sog ran down the clock with 19.39 left on the clock.

Map 2 was Olympus and .eX rotated players round to bring some new faces onto their team. The zone changed hands several times at the start of the map untill sog managed to clear and hold onto the zone long enough to build up a lead. Both teams made use of clays to protect their zoners, but .eX were unable to keep their players in zone long enough to run down their clock to any large extent. sog brough the clock down to about 3 minutes, at which point .eX made a determined attempt to cut into the lead. Both sides cleared the zone several times and the clock hovered around the 3 - 4 minute mark for a while untill sog regained control of the map and ran down the clock with just under 13 minutes left in the map.

The final map was Meat Grinder. This was another good battle, with both sides working hard to clear the other team from the zone and trying to prevent the opposition from getting players in. Netherlands Devious had an excellent match as flank guard with a K/D score of 58-18. The CQB zone on this map meant it was not an easy zone to control and the lead had to be worked for. sog team members communicated well and played a good game to keep people in zone and protected, winning the final map and the match and the TKOTH championship with about 5 minutes left on the map.

Well done and good games to .eX for a good, hard fought final. Having mastered the TKOTH brackets, sog are now looking forward to the TDM stage of the Last Glory Tournament, where we hope to do just as well.

sog players taking part were Netherlands Warp  , United Kingdom Ninjaman  , Netherlands Devious  , Norway Mad badger  , United Kingdom Pluto  and United Kingdom Renegade .

Tonight sog played Critcal Attack Division in the semi-finals of the Last Glory TKOH tournament. After some initial worries about playing on a Friday, we settled on Sunday night for the scrim when we hoped to get a good turnout for both teams. Match time arrived with both squads fielding 8 players, so the scene was set for a big battle.

Once again, the match started with Deadmans Gulch. Both teams reached the zone almost together, with CAD holding a few seconds lead for several minutes. Eventually sog managed to clear all of the CAD zoners and worked on holding onto the lead. CAD got people into the zone several times but were unable to clear sog and the gap between the teams increased by a few seconds each time sog fought off another CAD attack. sog ran down the clock at about 19 minutes holding a 1 min 23 second lead. 1 - 0 to sog.

Olympus was also played as an 8 v 8 map. Both teams got players into the zone, and the lead swapped backwards and forwards as both teams cleared the zone of the opposing players. Both sides managed to run up leads of 30 or 40 seconds, only to see these turned over by the other team. sog finally managed to get players into the zone long enough to start building a decent lead. Although CAD cleared the zone several more times, they were not able to hold it long enough to cut into the time significantly, and sog worked hard to keep people in the zone for as long as possible. Some good zoning from United Kingdom Pluto saw him run up over 10 minutes of zone time, and Sweden Dirkus had an outstanding game as flank guard, finishing off with a K/D score of 61 - 19. sog ran down the zone clock with about 8.30 left on the game clock. 2 - 0 to sog

Meatgrinder was the final map, played as a 7 v 7 as some players had to leave. No doubting, this was a tough map. Both teams threw players into the zone in an attempt to run down the zone clock, with the small zone and lots of hiding places making it hard for the opposition to remove them. Once again the lead swapped several times before sog started to build up a lead, ending up with a 4 minute lead. Just as it seemed that sog would wrap the map up, CAD got enough players into the zone to clear the zone and cancel out the lead with some of their own zoners. CAD held on and some hard fighting saw them keep sog out of the zone long enough for them to run up a 7 minute lead of their own. With only 3 minutes left on the clock, it seemed like CAD would be the first team to take a map off sog in the LG Tournament and force the match to go to map 4. A tremendous fightback by sog saw them finally get players into the zone and clear out the CAD zoners. Sustained pressure by sog destroyed the lead held by CAD, and eventually sog regained the lead with only a few minutes of the match to go. CAD made repeated counter attacks but just could not dislodge sog as the game clock ran down to zero, with sog winning by just over 1 minute.

Congratulation to CAD for playing a really good match, this was certainly the toughest match we have had so far in this tournament or anywhere else. We are now through to the Last Glory TKOH final where we will meet Element X, which promises to be another good match.

sog players in action tonight were United Kingdom Ninjaman , Norway Diesalot , Sweden Dirkus , Finland Killi , United Kingdom Longtime , Norway Mad badger , United Kingdom Pluto  , United Kingdom Renegade .

Last night sog were back in action in the Last Glory TKOH tournament with a quarter-final match against against Covert Special Forces (CSF) squad.

The match stared off with a 5 v 5 in Deadmans Gulch. Both teams quickly got players into the zone and for the first few minutes the match was finely balanced, with only a few seconds zone time separating both teams. sog finally cleared the zone and started to build a lead which they managed to extend as the maps progressed. Although csf continued to get players into the zone throughout the rest of the match, they were unable to clear sog from the zone or run up any significant amount of zone time themselves. 1 - 0 to sog.

Map 2 was Olympus. This started off as a 5 v 5, progressing to a 6 v 6 in the final stages as both teams found their final players. Again, the first part of the match was all action, both team getting players into the zone, only to be cleared by the opposition. The overwatch spots were also the scene of some good fights, both teams working hard to controll these. sog finally took controll of the zone and managed to retain the lead for the rest of the map against some determined opposition. 2 - 0 to sog.

The final map was a 6 v 6 in Meat Grinder. This has a small CQB zone where good communication and teamwork is essential. sog got players into the zone quickly, worked well to controll the zone and restricted csf to very little zone time altogether. csf never managed to clear sog from the zone and sog won the map in a little over 10 minutes. 3 - 0 and the match to sog.

Thanks to csf for a good match played in the proper spirit - we had to work for our win here. We are now into the semi-finals of the TKOH competion having not lost a map in the last 5 of our matches. Our opponents in the semi-final are CAD. We have met CAD before in TDM matches, but never in TKOH, so it should be a good match.

sog players taking part were United Kingdom Ninjaman , Sweden Dirkus , United Kingdom Pluto , United Kingdom Renegade , Norway Diesalot and United Kingdom Storm .

A few changes in the sog squad lineup this last week. We are sorry to be loosing Badboy and Hollogram from sog squad. With some other old members from Platoon of Brothers they have decided to reform PoB and bring it back to DFX while waiting for the new Nova game. We wish them well, if they get themselves sorted out quickly they will still be able to sign up for the Last Glory TDM and CTF rounds.

As well as Finland Killi rejoining us, Suicide, another old iq/sog member, has found his way back to DFX and has rejoined the squad. Both are now wearing their sog tags and will be joining the LG team lineup, so look out for sog.Finland Killi and sog.United Kingdom Suicide in game

  • LG Tournament TKOTH First Round- sog vs SIA - sog win 3 -0

After weeks of waiting, the Last Glory tournament is entering the matchplay phase. Tonight sog squad took on SIA in the first round of the TKOH competition. Originally planned for last weekend, the match was rescheduled as SIA were unable to find enough players on the day. They had similar problems today and could only get 5 members on-line at start time. Rather than win the match by forfeit, sog agreed to play a 5 v 5 match.

The first map was Deadman's Gulch. sog quickly got players into the zone and defended well, holding the zone continuously for 10 minutes and not allowing SIA to run up any significant zone time. Congratulations must go to United Kingdom Longtime for his demonstration of outstanding camping stats as he produced the perfect TKOTH game score - no kills, no deaths, no shots fired - 10.00 minutes zone time !

Map 2 was Olympus, which followed a similar pattern, sog got players into the zone quickly and held it for the entire match. In a match lacking both vehicles and 50 cal weapons, United Kingdom Renegade scored a rare double kill "yellow" with his SAW as sog kept SIA away from the zone

The third and final map was Meat Grinder. Once again sog held the zone from the start. Although SIA managed to squeeze a few players into the zone at the end, the damage was already done and sog took the map to win the match 3 - 0.

We are looking forward to our next match. Currently our opponents for the next round are still to be decided, either .dd or CSF, neither of whom we have played before.

sog players taking part were United Kingdom Ninjaman , United Kingdom Pluto , United Kingdom Renegade , Norway Diesalot , United Kingdom Longtime and Norway Mad badger .

  • sog. in action vs .SO

Last night Shades of Grey were out in force against Special Operations Task Force (.SO) in what promised to be a very tentative match up! The teams were 7v7, so a fairly high turnout.

The first map, Hill country, saw sog. on blue, and straight away we were out to get to our positions. After much flanking from both teams, sog. took the lead. Unfortunately there was a cock up on our part with the server settings with the kill limit. When sog. reached 50, instead of 100, the map ended. We then restarted the map and again we needed to get to 50 to have the total 100. sog. once again took the lead and held on to it till the end of the map. 1-0 to sog.

The second map, Dry Run, with the correct settings, saw .SO get into action quickly, giving sog. alot of trouble to get into position, but eventually when we got into position we were able to grab the lead, and once again hold onto it, with some good groundwork, and good gunning from both sides, it was eventually sog. that came out on top. 2-0 to sog.

Thanks for the games .SO we are looking forward to the re-match. On a side note, the Last Glory tournament will be starting soon, so there will be a chance for all teams to get to grips with each other, and we are looking forward to what promises to be an action filled tournament!

Players that took part were:
rt, D, wp, Rg, Nja, pf, mb, da, ms. - Good job guys!

Good Games All.

It is with deep sadness that we learned today of the passing of csf.Yaya. In the years I have been gaming it has been my pleasure to meet some extremely nice people and Yaya was one of the best, always laughing and joking with time for everybody.
He was extremely loyal and a true ambassador for both his squad and his country.
Sog squad would like to extend our most heartfelt sympathies to his friends and family at this sad time.
Vaya con dios Yaya.

  • Last Glory DFX Tournament announced.

The sog. organised Last Glory DFX tournament website offcially opened it's doors to the world today. Although the Nova forums have been down for most of the day, we have started posting details of the tournament on squad websites across the DFX community inviting teams to sign up. So far we have 4 teams signed up and have room for lots more, so we are hoping our publicity generates a lot of interest.

sog. squad will be competing in all three of the main tournament game types, TKOH, TDM and CTF and hope to do well in all of them. If we can find the maps we also hope to see either Flagball or Search and Destroy included in the tournament.

For more information or to sign up, visit the tournament website at lastglory.net

  • Sunday friendly - sog. vs .eX

Tonight we played our first match with sog. tags, a pickup friendly TKOH match against Element X (.eX). It has been a while since a few of our squad members have played a match in DFX, so this was a chance to blow off the cobwebs and have some fun at the same time. .eX had some problems getting players to start with, so this one started off as a 5 v 4 map.

First up was Deadmans Gulch. sog. got to the zone fast and quickly took control of the map. eX tried to get people into the zone but could not manage to get anyone in for any length of time. sog. wrapped up the map in fairly short order, running up 10 minutes zone time with 19.33 minutes left on the clock.

www.geocities.com/mattpics60/exscrim11.gif

Map 2 was Meat Grinder, played as a 6 v 6. This map has a CQB zone, and ownership of the zone see-sawed back and forth, with both teams getting people into the zone for good amounts of time. Although close, sog worked the zone well in the last minutes of the map, running out the winners 517 - 30 as the clock ran down.

www.geocities.com/mattpics60/exscrim12.gif

The final map of the match was Snow Blind. Although sog ran up plenty of zone time, some good play from eX was enough to keep us from completing 10 consecutive minutes of zone time, though they were unable to keep their own players in zone for very long. A final effort by .eX in clearing the zone in the last minute led to a scramble as both teams tried to get players into an empty zone, with sog. squeezing in for the last 12 seconds, winning the map and the scrim 3 - 0.
